Hot Air Balloon Baby Shower

We decided to keep our baby’s gender a surprise the 2nd time around. My hubby had his boy so that made him happy lol. So I knew no matter what we had next we would both be happy. For our baby shower I searched for the perfect gender neutral theme and I decided to go for hot air balloon. I saw a lot of pastel-color themed hot air balloon themes on pinterest but in my heart I felt I was having a boy (lol) & I felt it was too girly looking. I went with a vintage hot air-ballon look. The weather forecast showed a slight chance of rain so we rented a tent but thank goodness we didn’t get any rain!!

our invites were ordered from etsy. you can find the download for purchase here. I used a kraft envelope and wrapped them in a ivory yard and added small satin ribbon “flags” for detail.24812978436_679e10d073_o

My older sister has always been great at doodling free-hand. I asked her to create this piece where my guests can check in. Everyone added there thumb print above the basket, & signed there names to create hot air ballon. It turned out super cute.

My sisters and I SLAVED over these hot air balloons. But aren’t they the cutest? We made them from BEACH BALLS! 🙂 the “netting” is brown yard, the “baskets” are pre-made kraft paper “take out” style boxes, I added cute little “sandbags from muslin scraps and some pendant flags from construction paper for detail. We made like 8(?) of these bad boys lol.

our centerpieces were variations of up cycled items. We found books and blocks from our local thrift store. The bottles were from my recycling bin lol. (there was no encouragement to drink in making these centerpieces lol) We wrapped them in yard and vio-la. Other tables had cute cases. The fake carnations were used for my sons baby shower. That made them extra special to me.

I wish I had a better pic of the favors we made. :/ Maybe i’ll find one somewhere. Anyhow, my little sis (blss her heart) & I, made these super cute keychains for our guests. We used embroidery floss for the tassel, metallic thread, a beaded pearl, and a cute hot air ballon charm. I bought a lot of charms from etsy.

For food we had a combo of mexican & italian. I couldn’t make up my mind so I decided to do both. YUM 🙂 I wish I had more pics of the actual food. It was sooooo goooood!

My family made the mexican and we ordered the italian from Wild Thyme Pizza.

We order our cakes from a lady named Claudia who lives near our house. She bakes from home and her cakes are affordable and delicious! Im all for supporting one trying to make a living. She is our go-to! Im not a fan of fondant so I love that she uses a light whipped cream on her cakes and her hand work is great! If you live in the foothills area, send me a message, i’d love to give you her info.  ! This cake was inspired by a cake I saw on Pinterest. I can’t find it at the moment, or i’d give credit where its due 🙂

I added string lights to our backdrop. This gave for the perfect photo-op when the sun started going down. We were so excited to meet or soon to be baby.

From the food, to the, games, to the cake. Our shower was a success. I am blessed and thank full for all the gifts that we received and most importantly the gift of family & friends. It’s moments like these that I cherish. Thank you everyone who attended. You are a blessing.! An extra special thank you to my sisters and sisaer-inlaws who helped make today happen. & to Nelci who is always there to help serve. & to all my family who put their time in making for or taking beverages. I am soon blessed. LOVE you all.
