DIY Carousel Centerpieces

I created these carousel centerpieces for a very special girls first birthday party. With this theme being pretty popular I thought I would try and snap some pics of the process. I kind of improvised as I went along so sorry for any confusion. 🙂

Supplies You’ll Need:

acrylic paint

Wooden Dowel

Circle Wooden “base”

large wooden “bead”

Hot Glue Gun

Ribbon of your choice to add border and separation to triangles

Yardstick of choice

Lace Ribbon for bottom trim

foam board

wood glue to attach down to base

rotary circle cutter

these wooden bases were purchased at michaels. they had a small hole in them that but I needed a larger one to give the carousel a nice “pole” in the center” My hubby pulled out his rotary cutter and did this step for me.

Add a little wood glue to secure wooden dowel. These dowels were also purchased at michaels, I believe they come in 2 feet lengths. We had to cut these down to desired lengths.

I painted the pole and base pink and once it was dried I added painters table to the poles and painted white stripes.

As the pieces dried I cut out triangles with my foam board. I can’t remember the dimensions but as you can tell it took me a while to figure out the shape and size I was ok with. Looks messy but will be covered with your desired paper/prints I just held them together with tape.

I used a combo of this cute polk a dot pattern card stock and gold glitter. I could have used a glitter yardstick but I had lots of extra gold glitter and glue from a previous project that I decided to use instead.

Here is where your thin ribbon comes in use. I cut the ribbon long enough to cover the edges of the triangles and to dangle cut out horses.

I hole punched the horses and attached the same ribbons

I added a super cute late trimming to the bottom for a cute vintage look.

I rolled the “wooden bead” in gold glitter and added it to the top of the carousel as pictured. I also decided to add “raffle tickets” to the base. As pictured, I only used 3 horses but you can always add more. Even adding different circus animals would be so cute!

I wish I had better pictures. These don’t do this centerpiece justice. They were a hit.

Hope this got you motivated to create your own! Great for room decor as well! 🙂
