DIY Ghost Busters Proton Pack

EASY GHOST BUSTERS PROTON PACK

I wish I would of taken pictures from start to finish of E-mans proton pack. I’ll try my best to explain what I did to make it! Here is a pic of the final outcome.! Totally customized to his liking with lights and all! Best part of making it? Almost everything I used was from the 99 or for around my house!

  1. I started out with a small backpack and basically strutted the shape of the proton pack around it using card board for the sides and posterboard for the “face” of it.
  2. I used a plastic take out bowl (circles added to place lights in after), bottles cap, toilet paper roll, and small rectangle boxes made from card stock and arranged them onto the from to add dimension & get the closest look as the original proton pack.
  3. I attached a the “hose” to the side of the pack (to be used for the wand) & on the face of it. For the face of it i duct taped both ends of the tube to PVC Pipe pieces (a round one and a “T” shaped one).
  4. I spray painted everything black!
  5. Once spray painted I hot glued bolts, LED lights from the 99, warning logo stickers from electronics around my house, and I added red & blue “wiring” using cut up jump ropes i found at the 99. I also used metallic tape to small parts to give it an authentic look.proton-pack3
  6. for the wand I used a piece from a “rocket blaster” from the 99 (those large tubes that shoot out a foam rocket) the hole on it was the perfect size to insert a pieces of a glow sword we had laying around.

I had the hardest time finding the flight suit they use in his size so I had to compromise. I found the cargo pants at walmart & the cargo style shirt at the thrift store! To blend the together I tucked in the shirt and put on a khaki color belt (also from the 99) I ordered a ghost buster patch for his arm and a ghost buster name patch for the chest, both online. Black elbow pads and combat boots (from marshals)accesorized costume. We even added a floating “slimer” to his pack. 😉 He was so happy with the outcome & felt brave all night. He kept saying “I aint afraid of no ghost” HAHA!

well there you have it! I promise ill get better at step by step tutorials. Please comment or contact me for questions or requests! Hope your Holiday season is memorable and safe!

  1. Love it Judy. I think you do just fine explaining your steps. If people can’t figure it out by using their brains a little, well all I can say is “then they shouldn’t ne attempting it”. Another great job Judy. Such a wonderful Mom.

  2. Thank you sue! I’m glad you understood! I’m a visual learner myself so I was hoping it wouldn’t be to complicated! Lol love you sue thank you for being in my corner!
